As a child, I always wanted to go, go, go. It didn’t matter where. I just wanted to go! To see all that I could see. When I became an adult, I found a passion and love for driving.
After relocating from Ohio to Georgia, I was having trouble finding work. My cousin told me about a job opening at her son’s school. So that’s how I became a school bus driver, initially not by choice but because I needed to work, and it helped that I enjoyed driving and would be on the move going somewhere. I drove for the Fulton County School system for 14 years before leaving. I was looking for fewer passengers, so I decided to try Uber again. I am doing it because I would be on the move going here, there, and some of everywhere.
Later I realized what I really enjoyed was not just about the driving and being on the move, but the fulfillment that I was helping other people – getting them where they needed to go. Which really made me appreciate what I was doing even more. It wasn’t just about me learning new roads, seeing new places, and enjoying different scenery, but I really appreciated those who appreciated me and the service I was providing.
